Honoring the Original Foodie Mom
SPOTTED! Biggie of Lunch in a Box is a work-at-home mom of a four-year-old in San Francisco, obsessed with cooking and building a faster, better packed lunch. Her goal is tasty, attractive lunches with a minimum of morning prep. Biggie has the touch of a Foodie Mom!
I’m dedicating this blog post to highlight the original foodie mom, my friend Pauline Carubia. She was a foodie mom before anyone even used the term “foodie”. Like everything about Pauline her cooking was classy. She used the best ingredients and prepared her food simply. Pauline learned from the best, taking classes at The De Gustibus Cooking School in NYC, for over 25 years. She was still taking the subway into the city from her home in Queens when she was in her 80’s! She was really something else! One of her culinary highlights was when my brother, who had a wonderful birthday party for his wife Marylou at Daniel’s, arranged for Pauline to have a private tour of the kitchen! Here she is taking it all in!

Here’s to Pauline Carubia – my favorite Foodie Mom!

I am assuming that your Mom is no longer with us, because I’m sure you would have spotted her. After all, she must have been (or is) a special lady to have a friend like Pauline, not to mention a daughter as creative as you. Tell us about her!
